From 1967 – 1985, 106.7 FM was known as WEZR. The station had an easy listening format, playing mainly instrumental covers of pop songs.
The format was very popular, and the station did well, until the 1980’s, when the format ran into trouble.
Easy listening had an older audience, and advertisers were looking for younger listeners.
On January 1, 1985, the station changed to a CHR format to attract a younger demographic.
