BABJ, NABJ Press WJZ-TV for Action After Allegations of Racism and Harassment

The Baltimore Association of Black Journalists is calling for an investigation into WJZ-TV after receiving detailed complaints from current and former employees about racism, retaliation, sexual harassment by a longtime on-air staffer, and unsafe or unsanitary working conditions. BABJ says more than 20 employees have left the CBS-owned station since 2022 and believes the pattern reflects deeper cultural problems rather than routine industry turnover.

In response, CBS Baltimore provided a brief statement confirming outreach to BABJ“Our station’s leadership has responded to the Baltimore Association of Black Journalists asking to schedule a meeting regarding the concerns raised. We look forward to hearing from them.”

BABJ says it hopes the station will take meaningful steps to address the concerns and create a newsroom culture that ensures safety, equity, and accountability for all employees. More from afro.com.
