DCRTV Rumor: WHUR Close To Naming New Original Quiet Storm Host

A few months ago, WHUR made a series of cuts that led to the Howard University-owned radio station laying off afternoon drive host Frank Ski and Original Quiet Storm host John Monds.

WHUR now appears to be in hiring mode. They recently hired Joe Clair to host afternoons and teamed him up with Ski’s former co-host, Nina Brown.

Joe and Nina have been a huge success. The radio station had its best ratings period in over a year, jumping 6.4 to 7.9 in the latest Nielsen Ratings.

Now, WHUR appears to be looking to build on its success by naming a new host to The Original Quiet Storm.

DCRTV hears they are close to naming a new host. The person has worked in DC radio for many years, including a long stint at WKYS. Look for an announcement soon—more as we hear it.
