Don Geronimo Says He Is Ready For A Radio Return

Washington radio legend Don Geronimo says he is not finished with radio and would welcome another opportunity to get behind a live microphone. During an interview with 100.7 The Bay‘s Hanging With Huber Podcast on YouTube, the former Don and Mike Show host talked about his early career, his years at WPGC and WJFK, and why he still believes personality driven radio can attract an audience.

“I’m still a big believer in radio, and I’m not done yet,” Geronimo said. He even jokingly encouraged Huber to hire him for afternoons, arguing that listeners are still “dying to be entertained” and that live radio offers an energy that recorded podcasts cannot duplicate.

The nearly 30 minute conversation also covered Geronimo’s start in radio at age 14, working in New York City by age 18, his experiences with programmers Dan Mason and Scott Shannon, and the personal storytelling that helped make the Don and Mike Show a Washington institution. Geronimo said the strongest connection comes when hosts share both the good and bad parts of their lives with listeners.
