FCC Signs Off On WAYZ Sale, Format Shuffle Ahead

The FCC has approved the sale of 104.7 WAYZ from Verstandig Broadcasting to Brighter Media Group. The deal is expected to close by October 1st, at which point the station’s call letters will flip to WRYS.

Brighter Media Group, best known for running BRIGHT-FM (WRBS) in Baltimore, plans to simulcast that Christian AC signal on the 104.7 frequency once the paperwork is finalized.

As part of the shuffle, the WAYZ country format isn’t disappearing, it’s just moving down the dial. The station will shift its branding and programming to 101.5 starting September 15th.
