Finally, Some Good News For WHUR
Recently, Howard University’s WHUR has undergone two rounds of budget cuts.
In July, DCRTV reported that long-time weekend personalities Mr. C and Mansy Pullen were laid off and not replaced.
Earlier this month afternoon driver Frank Ski and “Original Quiet Storm” host John Monds were laid off and also not replaced. WHUR Is currently running jockless starting at 3 PM daily.
WHUR Is now looking to fill at least one of the shifts. The radio station has posted a job opening for an “Experienced Announcer.” The ad doesn’t specify what shift they are hiring for or whether it’s full-time or part-time, but it’s a step in the right direction.
WHUR was the highest-rated music station in Washington, with a 7.6 share in the latest Nielsen ratings.
