Former WUSA9 Executive Out In TEGNA Reorganization
Rick Gevers reports that a familiar name to DC TV insiders is out at TEGNA as the company reshuffles its news leadership structure. Michael Valentine, who spent eight years as VP and Station Manager at WUSA9, is leaving the company after a little more than a year as TEGNA‘s Southeast Regional VP of Content. Valentine oversaw operations and news leaders across 8 cities, including Atlanta, Tampa, and Charlotte.
TEGNA is eliminating two of its five Regional VP of Content positions and spreading those responsibilities among the three remaining executives. Before his time in Washington, Valentine built a lengthy local-news resume as news director at WFAA in Dallas, WVEC in Norfolk, and WEHT in Evansville.
