In 2004, Murray Horwitz interviewed Susan Stamberg on The Big Broadcast on WAMU.

Stamberg was one of the first employees at WAMU and one of the founding voices of National Public Radio.

Stamberg was the first woman anchor of a national news program in the US. She served as the co-host of All Things Considered from 1972 – 1986.

She Is considered one of the founding Mothers of NPR, along with Linda Wertheimer, Nina Totenberg, and Cokie Roberts.

In this interview, Susan talks about the building out of WAMU and the story behind John Hickman starting the longest-running show in DC radio history, The Big Broadcast.
