Gary Harrison Passes Away

Longtime WFLS Chief Engineer and part-owner of Piedmont Communications, Gary Harrison has passed away at 71. Harrison spent thirty years as Chief Engineer of WFLS.

Later, he became part-owner and Corporate Secretary of Piedmont Communications in Orange. Under his leadership, the stations were consolidated into new facilities, and WJMA-FM and WOJL-FM became the first commercial non-metro stations in Virginia to broadcast in HD radio.

A visitation will be held at Covenant Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 10830 Patriot Highway, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22408, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
