Is The Legendary WOOK Returning To Washington Radio?

The FCC on Friday approved the sale of WCTN and its 94.3 translator W232DE to WOOK Radio DC, Inc.

As DCRTV reported in July, WIN Radio Broadcasting Corporation agreed to sell the Potomac based station and translator to William Tucker Jr. and WOOK Radio DC for $800,000. Tucker has been working for years to bring the historic WOOK brand back to the DC radio dial.

With FCC approval now in hand, the deal can move toward closing. WOOK Radio DC currently operates as an online station with a DMV focused mix of jazz, neo soul, blues, funk and R&B. No format or call letter change has been announced for WCTN, but DCRTV expects Tucker will ultimately seek the WOOK call letters and bring WOOK back to Washington radio.
