John Dickerson Steps Down As Co-Anchor Of The CBS Evening News

John Dickerson is stepping down as co-anchor of the CBS Evening News by year’s end. CBS confirmed the move Monday, saying Dickerson will remain on-air with Maurice DuBois through the holidays. His departure comes amid looming layoffs across CBS News, part of a broader shakeup under network leadership that earlier this year saw Norah O’Donnell replaced at the anchor desk. Dickerson, 57, had only been in the co-anchor role since January.

In Facebook and Instagram posts, Dickerson thanked CBS for “the work, the audience’s attention, and the honor of being part of the network’s history,” adding that he’ll miss his colleagues who “made me a better journalist and a better human.” A longtime political analyst and network mainstay, Dickerson has anchored Face the NationCBS This Morning, and served as chief political correspondent.
