John Turk Passes Away
John Turk (Edwards), who hosted mornings on WOOK-AM (1340) and served as Operations Manager at WOOK-FM (OK 100), passed away on April 13th. During the 1960s and 70s, Turk was a key part of the station’s sound, hosting mornings on WOOK-AM, and later helped shape the direction of WOOK-FM.
WOOK was a cultural force in Washington, and voices like Turk’s helped define its connection to the community.
Interment with Military Honors will take place Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:30 pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery. More info can be found here.
