Leon Harris Pulled Off Air Mid Newscast
NBC4 (WRC) Anchor Leon Harris was pulled off the air on Thursday night after struggling to speak during his 6 PM newscast.
The NBC station cut to a longer than normal weather segment followed by a story about small business that aired the day before.
During the broadcast, Meteorologist Ryan Miller told viewers that the station received many worried messages about Harris’s well-being.
“We want to inform you that our colleague Leon Harris Is fine,” Miller said.
An NBC4 viewer, Lee Sanders, captured and posted the incident on X.
In his Tweet, Sanders said that he thought that Harris was dealing with “some form of alcohol/substance abuse.”
Please note that this is a viewer’s opinion, which has not been confirmed and is most likely not the cause of the incident.
Harris was not on the air for Friday’s news broadcast.
Update 12/2/24 – WRC has confirmed that Harris will step away from the Anchor desk to focus on his health.
