Major Layoffs At WBAL

WBAL NewsRadio (1090) has laid off midday host T.J. Smith and afternoon host Angelette Aviles as part of a major reduction in local programming. Their bios and shows have already been removed from the WBAL website. Smith joined the station in 2023, while Aviles took over afternoon drive in 2025.

The Hearst owned station has replaced much of its local weekday lineup with nationally syndicated conservative talk. The new schedule includes Glenn Beck, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, Mark Levin, Lars Larson and Coast to Coast AM.C4 and Bryan Nehman remain in morning drive, while a local WBAL News Now block with Robert Lang is listed from 5 to 7 PM.

DCRTV also hears that several employees in the WBAL newsroom have been laid off, although the full list of those affected has not been confirmed.
