Monumental Sports Network Hit With Layoffs
According to a report from Awful Announcing, Monumental Sports Network is undergoing layoffs, with multiple staffers confirming on social media Thursday that they were let go. The layoffs appear to have hit the digital content operation the hardest.
Among those impacted: senior director Brian McNally, who had been with Monumental and its predecessor NBC Sports Washington for eight years. Digital content specialist and on-air contributor Tyler Byrum, who joined in 2016, also announced his departure. Capitals focused digital reporterEthan Cadeaux, who came aboard in 2018, was also part of the cuts, along with Wizards reporter and digital producer Bijan Todd.
The layoffs come at a difficult moment for the regional sports. Earlier this month, The Washington Post shut down its sports section entirely.
