Monumental Sports Network Pulled From YouTube TV And Hulu + Live TV As Caps, Wizards Seasons Begin
Just as the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards gear up for their new seasons, fans across the region may be scrambling to find where to watch them.
Early Wednesday, Monumental Sports Network went dark on both Google’s YouTube TV and Disney’s Hulu + Live TV after carriage deals with the two streaming giants expired. Unless new agreements are reached, hundreds of thousands of homes in the DC area will lose easy access to local broadcasts of Caps hockey and Wizards hoops this fall.
Zach Leonsis, Monumental’s president of media and new enterprises, isn’t optimistic. He says the network has repeatedly offered proposals to the streamers with little to no response. “We are begging them to take a deal where we’re decreasing the commercial value, the economic value that we receive by a lot,” Leonsis told reporters.
