MPT Leads Local Emmy Winners With Record Night

Maryland Public Television made history at Saturday’s 68th Capital Emmy Awards, taking home 20 regional Emmy Awards, the most in MPT’s 55-year history. The wins spanned a wide range of categories, including Environment/Science, Arts & Entertainment, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, Education, Technology, Lifestyle, and Chesapeake heritage programming. 

The ceremony also brought recognition to many broadcasters across Maryland, Washington, and Virginia. WJLA, WRC, WBAL and Telemundo 44 earned honors for News Excellence, while Monumental Sports Network, WJLA, and Telemundo 44 were recognized for Overall Excellence. WUSA collected awards for The Heart of It with Sean Martinelli and for anchors Lesli Foster and Lorenzo Hall, while WETA earned multiple wins for WETA Arts and Signature Dish.
