Natalie Spala Announces Her Next TV Job
Sports Anchor and Reporter Natalie Spala announced on X last week that she had left WJLA, without saying where she was headed next. Today, NBC 5 Chicago (WMAQ) has confirmed that Spala will join the station as weekend sports anchor/reporter beginning Monday, August 31. She’ll also contribute to the station’s weekly Sports Sunday program.
Spala left WJLA after three years in Washington. During her time at Channel 7, she anchored weekday and weekend sportscasts and covered DC’s major professional teams, with a heavy emphasis on the Washington Commanders. She also recently won an Emmy for her coverage of the 2025 Potomac River mid-air collision.
Spala joined WJLA in 2023 after stops at WCIV in Charleston, and WPBN in Traverse City.
