New Low Power FM Ready to Launch

WEMA-LP (94.3 FM) in Fort Washington has filed a License to Cover with the FCC, indicating that construction of its facility has been completed and the station is ready to begin regular operation. The station is licensed to Strategic Music Partnerships, Inc.

Technical parameters call for 100 watts from an antenna 45.7 meters above ground level. As an LPFM facility, the signal will primarily serve the immediate Fort Washington area. Coverage should include much of southern Prince George’s County, including Fort Washington, Oxon Hill, National Harbor, and parts of Clinton and Temple Hills. In favorable conditions, the signal could also reach across the river into Alexandria and southern Fairfax County, though reception will likely be strongest close to the transmitter site.

The construction permit for WEMA-LP was originally granted in February 2024, with a later modification approved that same year.
