New WTOP GM Introduces Himself To Staff (Video)

Incoming WTOP President and General Manager Declan Moore introduced himself to the staff on Tuesday by sharing a connection to WTOP that goes back more than 30 years. Moore, who has never worked in radio, recalled first discovering WTOP when he came to Washington in 1995 and was told to tune to 1500 for traffic while navigating into the city.

Moore comes to Hubbard after serving as Head of International for Wondery and previously spent more than two decades at National Geographic. During the introduction, Hubbard Chair and CEO Ginny Morris said Moore’s lack of radio experience is actually part of what attracted the company to him, pointing to his experience helping transform National Geographic into a multimedia brand and growing Wondery.

Moore said he has “tremendous respect and reverence” for WTOP, calling its trusted journalism indispensable to the Washington region. He also pointed to Federal News Network and 2060 Digital as key pieces of Hubbard‘s DC operation. You can watch the video here.
