One Tower Up, One to Go: WPWC and WURA Seek More Time to Restore Full Signals
WPWC 1480 AM and WURA 920 AM in Dumfries-Triangle, Virginia, have requested a six-month extension of their Special Temporary Authority (STA) from the FCC.
This will allow the stations to continue broadcasting at reduced, non-directional power—1.25 kW during the day and 0.125 kW at night for WPWC and 7 kW during the day and 970 watts at night for WURA.
The owner of the stations, Amin Segundo has made progress in restoring the station’s infrastructure following the collapse of two of its towers in 2019. One replacement tower has been erected, and contract negotiations are underway for the second tower installation.
The current STAs are set to expire on May 17, 2025.
