Samantha Croston Joins WBAL-TV Sports
WBAL-TV is adding Samantha Croston as its new weekend sports anchor and reporter. Croston comes to Baltimore from CNY Central in Syracuse, where she has served as Sports Director since 2024. She makes her WBAL debut on Friday, September 4.
Croston has covered a wide range of college and professional sports and also has experience as a play-by-play announcer and analyst. She knows the athlete side of the story, too. Croston was a collegiate lacrosse goalie and team captain at Colgate University. She later earned a master’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with an emphasis in sports communication.
Croston joins Sports Director Pete Gilbert and the WBAL Sports team covering the Ravens, Orioles, college athletics and the local sports scene. Gilbert says Croston brings “experience, energy and competitive spirit” to the job and pointed to WBAL’s relationships with the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles as part of the station’s year-round sports coverage.
