Steve Borneman Headed To WRNR As General Manager
93.5 WRNR has named veteran radio executive Steve Borneman as its next General Manager, effective September 1. Borneman will join the Annapolis based station after the expected August closing of the sale of 100.7 The Bay (WZBA) to Educational Media Foundation, which will flip the station to the K Love network.
Borneman has served as President and General Manager of 100.7 The Bay since 2022. His career also includes executive leadership roles as Chief Operating Officer of Pamal Broadcasting, General Manager of Times Shamrock‘s Scranton cluster, and President and General Manager of WPLJ and WABC in New York. “WRNR is exactly the kind of radio station I believe in, local, community focused, and committed to serving its listeners,” Borneman said. “I’m excited to join the team and look forward to helping continue that tradition.”
The move comes as WRNR continues to expand its reach. The station returned to the FM dial last July on 93.5 FM in Annapolis and later expanded coverage through its LMA of the Silver Spring 93.5 FM translator, fed by WTOP HD4. Owner Kirk Litton called Borneman “a huge addition” to the station, while President Jay Stevens said his experience and understanding of hyper local radio make him the right person to lead WRNR into its next chapter.
