Tower Trouble At WACA

Filed yesterday with the FCC, WACA (900), in Laurel, is asking for a Special Temporary Authority to operate at reduced power. The station is normally licensed for 1.9 kW daytime and 500 watts at night using a three-tower directional array.

According to the filing from licensee ACR Media, Inc., one of the towers in the directional array is unable to reliably maintain full power. The company says it is investigating the cause of the instability and plans to take whatever steps are necessary to restore the facility to its licensed operating parameters. There Is no estimate on when the repairs will be completed at this time.
