Trapper Young Heads To Morning Drive On Fredericksburg’s GOAT

Trapper Young has been named morning host at WGRQ (95.9 The GOAT), replacing Dave Adler, who departed the station at the end of April. Young begins his new role on July 6.

The move ends a remarkable 29-year run in afternoon drive at sister station WBQB (B101.5), where Trapper consistently ranked among the market’s top-rated personalities. WGRQ was recently purchased Centennial Broadcasting alongside WGRX (Thunder Country), adding to a cluster that also includes WBQB and WFVA.

“Trapper is one of the most talented announcers in the region. His knowledge of the market and the equity he has built over 29 years is outstanding,” said Market Manager Mark Bass. The lineup changes come as WGRX recently added the syndicated Big D & Bubba to mornings. Centennial says it has begun a search for Trapper’s replacement at WBQB.
