Veronica Johnson To Receive Prestigious Award

ABC7 (WJLA) Chief Meteorologist Veronica Johnson has been chosen for the June Bacon-Bercey Award for Broadcast Meteorology from the American Meteorological Society to honor her 37-year career in meteorology.

Johnson released the following statement:

“Thank you so much for this tremendous honor from the American Meteorological Society! I am truly humbled and overwhelmed with gratitude for being chosen as the recipient of the AMS June Bacon-Bercey Award for Broadcast Meteorology. To be associated with this trailblazing and passionate scientist is deeply moving. Thank you for acknowledging my hard work and dedication. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my nomination. June-Bacon Bercey’s story is one of pride and it should continue to be told. It is such a great story of education, training and equality! I look forward to spreading the word of her legacy and inspiring others to pursue their meteorology dreams.”
