WFAX To Move 100.7 Translator
WFAX-AM (La Pantera) filed an application today with the Federal Communications Commission to relocate its 100.7 FM (W264DB) translator. The proposal would relocate the translator from the WFAX-AM tower in Falls Church to a tower on Robert Carter Rd in Fairfax Station. The change is expected to significantly improve its coverage.
According to the filing, the move would increase the translator’s effective radiated power from 100 watts to 220 watts, while also raising the antenna height substantially. The new facility would operate at 140.2 meters above ground level, compared to 75 meters at the current Falls Church site. That combination of higher power and greater height should allow the signal to reach more listeners across Northern Virginia.
In addition to the technical upgrades, the application proposes a change in the translator’s community of license from Falls Church to Manassas.
