WGOP Files To Suspend Operations
WGOP-AM 540 and FM translator W293DN at 106.5 FM filed with the FCC to suspend operations earlier today.
The owner, the Waters Group has embedded this one line note to the filing:
“Move WGOP to Charles County permanently, once renovation are completed.”
The original WGOP suffered a significant fire in 2022, destroying the studios.
DCRTV wonders if the owners may attempt to relocate the station to the DC metro area. Maybe La Plata? That would make an ideal community-of-license as that town lost AM 1560 WKIK in 2023 when the daytimer’s license was surrendered.
