WGOP Files With The FCC To Move

In early March, WGOP-AM 540 and FM translator W293DN at 106.5 FM filed with the FCC to suspend operations.

The original WGOP suffered a significant fire in 2022, destroying the studios.

On Friday, owner Roger Waters made the following filing with the FCC:

“As previously advised, there was a fire at the WGOP and W293DN
transmitter/studio. The studio was moved to a temporary location. I
request to Move WGOP and W293DN to Charles County permanently.
Once renovations, proper signal evaluation and equipment are installed
I request to resume broadcast. This application supersedes the previous
application submitted because of filing time passed the time requested
to go silent. Additional time will be required to return the facilities back
to the air. As such, we respectfully request an extension of silent
authority for each station.”
