WGOP Has Complaint Filed With The FCC

In early March, WGOP-AM 540 and FM translator W293DN at 106.5 FM filed with the FCC to suspend operations.

Shortly after, station owner Roger Waters filed with the FCC to move the station to Charles County.

DCRTV has learned that a complaint has been filed with the FCC alleging that The Waters Group let the station stay dark for over a year and never informed the FCC that the station was silent.

The complainant says he helped put the station on air on Labor Day 2023. He says the station was on air for a week or two and then went dark. When it was turned back off, the station never filed an STA with the FCC to stay silent.

The filing also states that WGOP lost its tower lease and had no intention of staying in Pocomoke City.

The STA filed in March to protect the station’s license because the station had been silent.
