WGRQ and WGRX Sold
Centennial Broadcasting is growing its Fredericksburg footprint. President/CEO Allen Shaw announced today that the company has reached a deal to buy WGRQ-FM (95.9) and WGRX-FM (104.5) from Telemedia Broadcasting.
The sale will fold the two FMs into Centennial’s current local lineup — WBQB-FM and WFVA-AM, creating a four-station cluster. The deal is expected to close later this year, pending FCC approval.
Shaw says adding WGRQ and WGRX “marks an important step” in Centennial’s growth strategy, calling the stations’ “strong community presence and loyal audiences” a perfect fit for the company’s Fredericksburg plans.
