WJEJ Is For Sale
Hagerstown’s WJEJ (1240 AM) has been listed for sale for $1.25 Million. The listing includes the station’s real estate at 1135 Haven Road, its FCC licenses, equipment, and the business itself. Sitting on roughly 6.75 acres, the package is being pitched as a turnkey opportunity for a new owner to step in and operate immediately, with the added upside of potential future land use depending on zoning.
The station currently operates a full-service format featuring adult standards, middle-of-the-road, and oldies, and is also heard on 104.3 FM via translator W282CR. WJEJ has been owned and operated by Hagerstown Broadcasting Company.
WJEJ signed on in 1932 as Hagerstown’s first radio station, originally broadcasting daytime-only with just 100 watts from the Alexander Hotel. Over the decades, it expanded to full-time operation, increased power to 1,000 watts, and settled on its current 1240 frequency. You can see the listing and pics here.
