WPGC Tribute Site Celebrates 25 Years

This July 4th marks 25 years since the launch of the WPGC Tribute Site—amandfmmorningside.com.

The website was originally built from a forgotten box of station memorabilia in a garage back in 2000. Since then, the site has grown into a massive archive with over 2,500 pages and 250+ airchecks, preserving the legacy of one of DC’s most iconic Top 40 stations.

To celebrate this milestone, the site is rolling out its biggest update yet: a countdown of the 25 Most Memorable Moments from WPGC’s history. From the early days in 1954 to its final broadcast in 1984, the countdown highlights legendary jocks like Harv Moore & Co, Elliott & Woodside, Big Ron O’Brien and Don Geronimo.

It also features major moments in WPGC‘s history, and unforgettable station promotions.

Also debuting this weekend: a re-creation of the very first American Top 40 that aired on WPGC on July 5, 1970—complete with original jingles, commercials, and WPGC-specific elements.
