WRNR Coming To Silver Spring
Legendary alternative rocker WRNR Is majorly expanding their reach. They are now going to be broadcasting on 93.5 in Silver Spring. The move means WRNR will now be heard on 93.5 both in both in Annapolis and Montgomery County.
Effective March 1, Cortona Media will program W228DI and the HD4 channel of WTOP under a LMA with Hubbard Broadcasting. Hubbard DC President Joel Oxley says the company is “thrilled” to partner with WRNR to extend its alternative rock format to 93.5 FM in Silver Spring, adding that millions more listeners will now get access to WRNR’s mix of classic and current alt rock.
WRNR is locally owned by Cortona Media LLC, led by managing partners Kirk Litton and Jay Stevens. Litton calls the deal “too perfect to pass up,” noting the station has doubled its listenership in the Annapolis metro since relaunching on 93.5 FM seven months ago. Stevens says the combined Annapolis and Silver Spring signals will cover a population of just over 1.2 million, allowing listeners to stay locked on 93.5 without interruption on commutes between Annapolis and Washington.
