WTOP Briefly Off Air Last Night

WTOP was briefly taken off the air late Wednesday night for planned maintenance.

A DCRTV reader reports that at around 11:25 PM, WTOP announced that it would be signing off at 11:30 for “emergency maintenance.” The reader speculated that the issue may have been at the studio, noting that the transmitters for 103.5 and 107.7 were still on the air.

A representative from WTOP tells DCRTV that the outage was tied to network infrastructure work. “We needed to reboot a significant portion of our network infrastructure as part of planned maintenance,” the spokesperson said. “We no longer have CBSN to fall back on (as that service ended) at our backup studio, so we had to go silent. Working on a new fallback.”
