WTOP Names New Morning Anchor
WTOP has announced that Kristin Diaz will join the station as its new morning drive anchor alongside John Aaron, beginning in April. Diaz heads to Washington from NewsRadio 1080 KRLD in Dallas, where she has served as PM drive co-anchor since 2020.
WTOP Director of News and Programming Julie Ziegler praised Diaz’s commitment to serving diverse local communities and telling impactful stories across platforms. Diaz said she’s excited to join a newsroom “deeply rooted in its community” and looks forward to bringing her experience and authenticity to Washington.
Diaz replaces Michelle Basch who retired from morning drive a few weeks ago. Basch will still be heard on WTOP as a reporter.
