WUSA Hires Weather Pro Carl Lam, A Meteorologist With One of TV’s Wildest Resumes

FTVLIVE reports that WUSA has hired Carl Lam to replace Jonathan Myers on the station’s morning weather team. Lam comes to DC from Spectrum News 1 across New York State. He has also worked for major Canadian news radio outlets including 680 NewsRadio Toronto and 1130 NewsRadio Vancouver.

Lam has freelanced at a long list of TV stations including KUSA in Denver, KDKA in Pittsburgh, WKYC in Cleveland, and spent seven years with WGRZ in Buffalo. He’s also provided weather hits for several TEGNA stations, making him no stranger to the company he’s now joining full-time.

Lam may also be WUSA’s most academically decorated hire ever, holding multiple master’s degrees across business, engineering, higher-ed, HR, and music, with more in progress. Outside the studio, he’s a concert violinist, an orchestra administrator, a university instructor, and an active community volunteer. And in his “spare” time, he travels the country eating at Michelin-star restaurants and documents it all on Instagram at @clamchopsandlambakes. No word yet on his exact on-air debut date, but viewers can expect WUSA’s mornings to get a serious upgrade from a forecaster who has seen, and done just about everything.
