WYPR Launches New Local Show
WYPR (88.1) will launch a new locally produced weekday public affairs program, The Engagement, on October 19. Hosted by Baltimore author and journalist D. Watkins, the show will air Monday through Thursday at 11 am.
The program will cover daily news, politics, community issues, arts, and culture across Baltimore and Maryland. Watkins is a New York Times bestselling author, University of Baltimore professor, former writer on HBO’s We Own This City, and executive producer of the Hulu film Hoops, Hopes and Dreams.
The new show creates a weekday hour of local news and public affairs programming on the Baltimore NPR outlet. On Fridays, WYPR News Director Matt Bush’s WYPR News Roundup will move to 11.
