Harry Boomer Retires After 55 Years In Broadcasting
Harry Boomer, whose broadcasting career began in the DC area, is retiring after more than 55 years in radio and television.
Boomer came to Washington at 17 and got his start as a DJ at the MARC Supper Club and area discos before being hired by Harv Moore as a Programming Assistant at WPGC. He later worked at WOOK and Jazzy 100 (WJZE) before serving as News Director at WOL.
In 1988, Boomer moved to Ohio, where he worked in radio and television before beginning a long run with Cleveland’s WOIO and WUAB as a reporter, anchor and public affairs host. He is the stations’ longest tenured on air staffer.
