Drew Phelps Leaving WFRE And WFMD

Drew Phelps is leaving Frederick’s 99.9 WFRE and 930 WFMD after more than three years with the stations. His final day will be Thursday, October 15, following WFRE’s annual Ladies Night event benefiting the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund.

Phelps joined WFRE in March 2023 after spending 12 years with SiriusXM. He has hosted the station’s weeknight 7 PM to midnight show, “Free Country Nights with Drew,” while also serving as Director of Digital for both WFRE and WFMD for the past two years. In December 2025, he added Assistant Program Director duties at WFMD, where he also filled in on the air.

After more than 20 years in radio, Phelps says his departure is a personal career decision. He has not announced his next move. The stations have not named replacements for his on-air or management responsibilities. His exit follows the recent departure of WFRE afternoon personality AJ Randall, leaving the station with two weekday openings.
