More Good News For WNAV
WNAV (1430 AM) today received FCC approval to temporarily operate at reduced power after losing its transmitter site.
The station recently disclosed that the new owner of the transmitter property did not renew its lease, forcing Victory Media of Maryland to vacate the site. Under FCC approval, WNAV will operate for up to six months from a temporary facility using 200 watts day and night with a compact vertical antenna located at the site of its FM translator. The temporary operation will allow the station to remain on the air while it searches for a permanent AM transmitter location.
The approval comes just one day after the FCC also signed off on WNAV’s major FM translator upgrade. As previously reported by DCRTV, the translator will move to the Maryland Public Television tower in Crownsville, change frequency from 92.7 to 99.9 FM, and significantly expand its coverage of the Annapolis area.
