Thunder 107.7 (WRCY) Jingles
107.7 in Warrenton, Virginia, started life as WARR radio and quickly changed its call letters to WEER-FM to complement WEER AM 1250.
In the early 80s, the station changed to WWWK (3WK) as a country station.
That soon gave way to Magic Radio, Gold Hits WMJR.
That lasted around eight years until Thunder 107.7 began in 1992ish.
Thunder was a five-year project that gave way to “Up Country,” which lasted until WTOP traded the 94.3 frequency for 107.7.
Though other WTOP projects used this frequency, WTOP has been on it for quite some time.
The jingles here are from Thompson Creative, a package geared toward CHR stations called “The Edge.”
At the same time, the package was running on 1600 WINX in Rockville, 98.5 WYCR in Hanover, and 95.9 WKHI in Bethany Beach.
Thanks to Chris Roth for sharing the jingles.
