Hillary Howard Leaving Sunrise On The Hill

Hillary Howard announced on social media today that she is leaving Sunrise on the Hill, the morning news and politics program airing on DC News Now (WDVM/WDCW). Howard has been a part of the show for the last 15 months. Monday will be her final day.

Howard has been a fixture in DC media for decades. She spent about 10 years at FOX 5 (WTTG) as a reporter, weekend anchor and special projects reporter, and later worked at WUSA and ABC 7 (WJLA). She then spent more than 18 years at WTOP, anchoring afternoons alongside Shawn Anderson, before leaving the station in 2023.

Howard also continues to host It’s Academic, a role she has held since 2011. The program, formerly seen on NBC 4 (WRC), now airs on WETA. Howard joined Sunrise on the Hill at its launch alongside Cory Smith, who left the show earlier this year to join NewsNation. You can watch Howard’s reel below.
