Tony Perkins Honored With Ed Walker Lifetime Achievement Award

Tony Perkins has been honored with the Ed Walker Lifetime Achievement Award in Broadcasting by the National Capital Radio & Television Museum. Perkins, an anchor on News4 (WRC), received the award at the museum’s annual gala Saturday night. The award recognizes broadcasters who have made a lasting impact on radio and television in the Washington region.

Perkins has been a fixture in DC media for more than 40 years. He got his start working with Donnie Simpson on WKYS, later hosted DC20 Breakaway on WDCA, and also spent many years at FOX 5 (WTTG) as a weathercaster, reporter and anchor. He left Washington in 1999 to become the weather anchor and feature reporter for ABC’s Good Morning America, before eventually returning to DC. He has also worked at WUSA 9 and co hosted afternoons with Donnie Simpson on Majic 102.3 (WMMJ). He joined News4 in 2023.

The award is named for legendary Washington radio personality Ed Walker, who was the first recipient in 2015. Previous honorees include Maureen Bunyan, Arch Campbell, Chris Core and Diane Rehm. The museum renamed the honor for Walker following his death in 2015. More from NBC4.
