News4 and 7News Community Rallies Around Irene Johnson After Sudden Loss

The DC TV news community is rallying around one of its own. Colleagues at WRC and WJLA are supporting videographer Irene Johnson following the unexpected passing of her husband, former Washington defensive back Tré Johnson, on February 15.

Friends and colleagues have launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Honoring Tré’s Legacy and Supporting His Children.” The fundraiser is designed to help cover funeral and memorial expenses and to provide longer-term financial stability for the Johnsons’ four children during an incredibly difficult time. Organizers say every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting the children’s immediate and future needs as the family navigates life without their husband and father.
