Will WUSA Join Tegna’s Massive Streaming News Expansion?
Tegna has announced it will roll out new daily local news programming across 50+ markets, but the company has yet to release a full list of participating stations.
The initiative, which includes new 7–9 a.m. livestreams on connected TV platforms and station websites, is already underway in markets like Portland (KGW), Charlotte (WCNC), and Cleveland (WKYC). Tegna says 35 markets will launch live programming this summer, with more than 50 joining by fall.
So far, Washington hasn’t been mentioned. But given WUSA’s prominence and Tegna‘s ownership of the station, it may be part of the next wave. WUSA has long been a key player in local news, and the expansion could help the station tap into morning viewers on streaming platforms — an increasingly critical battleground for audience and ad dollars alike.
