Steve Lawhon To Retire From BRIGHT-FM

After more than 40 years with Peter & John Ministries, Steve Lawhon has announced plans to retire as General Manager of Brighter Media Group and Executive Vice President of the ministry. Lawhon will remain in his current roles through March 2027 to help oversee a leadership transition.

Lawhon joined the organization in 1985 as an on-air announcer and went on to lead one of the most significant transformations in the ministry’s history. Under his leadership, the former teaching and talk-focused ministry evolved into BRIGHT-FM, expanding its reach across Maryland, Washington, and surrounding areas through broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.

Peter & John Ministries President Jon Bisset credited Lawhon with helping shape the modern identity of the organization, while Lawhon said his primary goal throughout his career was “to help move people toward the Lord.” The ministry has begun a succession planning process to identify Lawhon’s successor.
