WZBA Sale Heads To FCC For Approval

The proposed sale of WZBA-FM (100.7 The Bay) to K-LOVE, Inc. was officially been filed with the FCC. The application, submitted Friday, seeks Commission approval for the transfer of the station license along with translators W261CD Baltimore and W298CG Bel Air.

The contract shows K-LOVE will pay $2.7 million for the stations. The filing also confirms that K-LOVE intends to convert WZBA from a commercial station to a non-commercial educational facility following the acquisition, paving the way for the launch of the network’s Christian contemporary format in the Baltimore market. (You read the contract here.)

According to the contract, closing will take place no later than 10 days after FCC approval and satisfaction of the remaining closing conditions. Once the deal closes, expect 100.7 The Bay’s classic rock format to be replaced by K-LOVE‘s satellite-delivered Christian contemporary programming. We’ll continue to follow the application and provide updates as the deal moves through the FCC approval process.
