America In The Morning Replacement Set For September 21 Launch

At the end of August, DCRTV reported that Westwood One was canceling America In The Morning after an incredible 42 year run. A new syndicated morning news program being developed by AccuMinute is launching as a replacement option for stations looking to fill their daily 5 AM time slot.

The new program, originally announced as National Morning Express, has been renamed America’s Morning News. Rich Johnson has also been named the host of the new show. He has worked for WTOP, WTEM, CNN, and FOX News Radio.

Jeff McKay, currently executive producer of America in the Morning, has been hired to do the same role for America’s Morning News. AccuMinute says it also plans to build the show into a broader multi-platform morning information brand with opportunities for local integration and additional revenue. America In The Morning is heard locally on Federal News Network (WFED 1500). They have not announced their plans for the 5 AM hour.
