Baltimore Radio Veteran Bob Stei Dies Unexpectedly

Baltimore radio veteran Bob Stei, who got his start on the air at 98 Rock (WIYY) in the early 1990s, died unexpectedly on August 13. Stei went on to work at 105.7 The Hawk (WCHR) in New Jersey, 98.7 The Coast (WCZT) and The Rattler Rocks (KBSZ) in Phoenix. He later created and syndicated The Grunge Garage and The Britpop Show, bringing his programs to listeners around the country.

Earlier this year, Stei joined Seaboard Networks as a Marketing Solutions Consultant working with President and CEO Steve Clendenin. In the days before his death, Stei had been helping promote the launch of Bay Rock, the new streaming station created following the sale of 100.7 The Bay (WZBA) and its switch to K-LOVE. Stei was also preparing to join Bay Rock‘s on-air lineup with a weekend show. “We are all shocked and heartbroken by the news,” Clendenin said. “Bob was a valued colleague and friend, and his loss is being felt deeply across our team.”

Stei is survived by his wife and three children, ages 20, 12 and 10. His daughter, Kim Steinberg, has established a GoFundMe to help the family with expenses following his sudden death. More from Radio Ink.
